Overview

IBM PC version of Bert and the Snake
IBM PC version of Bert and the Snake
Bert and the Snake is a clone of the game Q*Bert and features similar gameplay. As in Q*Bert, the goal is to change all of the blocks in a pyramid to a different color. Player's guide their character, Bert, around the pyramid and each time Bert jumps to a block it changes to a different color; when all blocks have reach the target color, the game continues to the next level. Throughout the game there are two opponents that will cause Bert to lose a life if he's hit. The first is a fruit; similar to the red ball in Q*bert, the fruit continuously lands at the top of the pyramid and falls towards the bottom. The second danger is the titular snake; after a short period of time the snake will appear on the pyramid and relentlessly hop after the player. Unlike Q*bert, there is no defense against the snake and it must be avoided. As players progres through the levels the game becomes more difficult by having the fruit and snake move faster and by requiring more jumps per block for it to reach the desired color.
