Overview

Othello for the IBM PC
Othello for the IBM PC
Othello, also known as Reversi and other names, is a computerized version of the popular board game of the same name released for the IBM PC in 1982. Like the board game, 2 players compete on an 8x8 board. Players take turns placing discs on the board; when a disc is placed in an available space, any of the opponents discs located between the disc just placed and another disc of the player's color will be flipped over into the player's color. When placing a disc, at least one opponent disc must be flipped over otherwise the move isn't allowed. The game ends when no more moves are possible for one of the players; the winner is the player with more of their color disc on the board.

This IBM PC version of the game allows for 2 player games or for 1 player against the computer. The game board shown has all open spaces numbered; players can choose where to place their disc simply by typing the number of the desired square. Score is kept by the computer which also ensures only legal moves can be made.
