Before loading the Floppy Frenzy diskette for the
first time, refer to initialization procedure inside.

Object

The object of Floppy Frenzy is to annihilate the zapping magnet monsters before they destroy your floppy diskette. First you lay a trap to weaken them. Then before they grow strong again, you can catch and destroy them.

The Chase

Use the arrow keys ↑ , → , ← , and ↓ on the right side of the keyboard to move your floppy around the maze.

Traps

To lay a trap, press Function key F1 to the left of the keyboard. If you change your mind while you're building a trap, press F2 to make it disappear. Once you lay a trap, you cannot cross over it until a magnet hits it, so be careful not to corner yourself. You may put a trap anywhere on the screen except near a hole.

If you do corner yourself, you can press F10 to escape into a new maze. This is onlly for emergency exits since you lose 1/2 your points as a penalty.

When a magnet monster runs into a trap, he turns into a weak little bar magnet for a short while. This is your chance to get him and finish him off. If you take too long, he will become a menacing magnet monster again.

Advanced Meanies

At advanced levels, your floppy will meet the dustman — a greater threat to its delicate nature. When a dustman gets caught in your trap, he disperses into little dust particles so that you can catch him and sweep him away. You don't have long to get him, so stay close!

Extra Lives

You start with 3 lives and lose one each time a magnet monster or a dustman attacks your floppy. At higher levels, you can earn an extra life each time you manage to catch all the dustmen in your maze. You must, however, clear the screen of all meanies before you can continue to challenge more dustmen.

Scoring

Each time your trap catches a magnet monster or a dustman, you score points for good behavior. To get a high score, you must catch and destroy your opponents while they're weak. You get twice as many points for a dustman as for a magnet man because you have less time to catch him. You also get special bonus points for each level that you clear depending on how fast you work.
