Amstrad is part of the category Display Hardware Supported.
Starting with the Amstrad PC-1512 in 1986, Amstrad released several computers that were compatible with the IBM PC. They featured built in graphics that were compatible with CGA, but also added additional 320x200 16 color and 640x200 16 color video modes. The additional 16 color video modes were incompatible with other 16 color standards of the time such as EGA or the Tandy/PCjr. These machines were popular in the UK, but failed to gain market share in the US.
