PointMaster Fire Control

The PointMaster Fire Control Constant Fire Adapter is a dongle that connects to Atari and compatible 9-pin joysticks that simulates holding down the fire button for games which require repeatedly pressing the fire button. It is designed with the Atari 2600 in mind, however it will work with any system that uses similar joysticks. The compatibility and usefulness depends on the game; it is designed for games where players may want to continuously fire, but the game doesn't allow simply holding down the button and needs the button to be pressed for each shot. The actual rate of fire depends on what the game allows; additionally, for some games constant fire may not be desirable making the adapter superfluous.
