8088 / 8086 is part of the category Minimum CPU required.
The Intel 8088 microprocessor was introduced in 1979 and was used by the original IBM PC when it was released in 1981. The IBM PC and many compatible systems used a clock frequency of 4.77 MHz. The 8088 is a modified version of the Intel 8086 which had been released in 1978 (the 8086 would later also be used in IBM and compatible computers including the IBM PS/2 model 25 and 30). The instruction set of the two processors was identical, the most notable difference was the use of an 8-bit data bus in the 8088 versus the 16-bit data bus in the 8086.
